Why is it "één" with "we" and "een" with "wij"? Can there be only one emphasized word per sentence or something?

I said "Wij hebben nog een keer geprobeerd.", leaving out "het." Must one use "the" in this sentence?

It* in Dutch you must specify what you are trying again, in this case "it"

What is wrong with "Wij probeerden één keer meer"?

'One more time' should be translated as 'nog een keer'. 'een keer meer' is a very odd expression in Dutch.

"We tried it again", not exactly the same, but practically the same. Do note: if it were "we probeerden het nog één keer" then it'd mean "we tried it one more time" (as in only once more)
