Why isn't "your house is next to mine" accepted? It's a more natural way of saying it in English, I wouldn't say something 'stands' next to something else in English (unless I'm referring to people).

That actually is accepted. If you were marked wrong for that, there was a bug.

The bug is still there. I was marked wrongly for the same

You submitted an error report for "You house is next to mine" - it needs to be "your", not "you".

Yup, it's still there. I was just marked wrong for "Your house is near me" as well as "Your house is near mine"

That's not the same thing, though - the above discussion is about "next to". We do not allow "near", as that would be nära.

So you can use "mitt" like that, interesting.

Yes, we have the same words for "my" and "mine".

Can you say "Ditt hus är bredvid mitt"?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/devalanteriel

Sure, ligger works. I'd even prefer it, personally.

är doesn't quite work the same, though.

Is "your house stands by mine" not correct?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/devalanteriel

That doesn't really sound very natural, does it?

Why is 'beside me' wrong?

That would be bredvid mig.
