What's the difference between й and ї in Ukrainian?
To my current perception the latter sounds like "йi".
That's exactly how it should sound! Letter ї corresponds to two sounds: й+і. The difference between ї and other similar letters (я, ю, є) is that it never "loses" its "й". So before ї there always should be either a vowel or an apostrophe
Okay, thank you for explaining!
Shouldn't "мільярд" be enough for "one billion" since it is just one? Here it requires "один мільярд". Worth reporting? Or is "мільярд" some kind of exception?
This question is not accepting "Eight hundred million, nine hundred million, one billion"
Write it in Ukrainian.
