Do you have to know coding to be able to work on a course?

Could someone please explain to me what you need to know to create a course?

When they take you as a contributor (builder of course) then you will have to take a tutorial program gives you to understand how everything's done :) The main job does the program (or, to be precise, the Duolingo programmers), you only translate sentences program gives you, and correct the mistakes, that's how courses are built :) Hope I helped.

To be a volunteer in the incubator you can perfectly well survive without any programming knowledge. All you need to learn is a specific form how to enter the translation options into the system and this form is very userfriendly. You will get it within 2 days.

The DL-team definitely has to know much more than we.....they really have to programme a lot and get the course working etc. But I can't tell you what knowledge one needs to have precisely for that. But it's definitely more than just being a hobby programmer :D.
