Medicine or Medication?
Re sentence about horses, I translated "Medizin" as "Medicine" and was marked wrong - told I should have written "Medications". My sources give "Medikament(e)" as "Medication(s)".
I'm not entirely sure about the English usage of 'medication'. For me it mainly means 'application of drugs'. In this sense the German word would be 'Medikation' or 'Arzneimittelanwendung'. 'Medikament' in German means the same as 'drug' or 'medicine' (in the sense of drug) in English. 'Medizin' can mean either a 'drug' or the whole medical profession just like in English. Can you use 'medication' also in the sense of 'drug' in English?
