Does anyone know if there is a group forming already to start a Thai for English speakers course? Is there a particular area on Duolingo to look this up? Thanks.

Great Interest here aswell. I have been looking for a good and somewhat intuitive source for a while now. Would really love to learn it with Duolingo!!

Actually I was really surprised how hard it is to find decent sources, considering how many foreign people travel and live in Thailand...

English for Thai speakers is online.

Still nothing for the reverse. Looks like the group quit. My inquiry direct to Duolingo received a response that there was not enough interest.

Noooo! I have been waiting and checking every week. I live in Thailand and honestly need this program. I also know MANY English speakers who have said they would use it. Please let this not be true

I have just applied to become a course contributor for the Thai course. I hope there will be openings soon! I'm very glad that there are a lot of people who have expressed interests in learning the language.

I don't see anything saying they're even working on a Thai for English speakers course. Do you have any inside info on it? =P I'm living in Thailand and would love to learn Thai with Duolingo.

This is one of the websites that you could get learning materials with audios and stuff for free, so you could probably use this one first. https://fsi-languages.yojik.eu/languages/FSI/fsi-thai.html

Just adding one more supporting comment for a Duolingo Thai for English speakers course. There are literally thousands of us here in Chiang Mai alone - seems like it would be worthwhile considering just how many English speakers live in Thailand, let alone the number who visit annually. There is a new app made by a couple here in Chiang Mai called "Ling" that takes a Duolingo style approach to teaching Thai for English speakers - until Duolingo has their own course, this is the best thing I've found so far. I'll put the links below for anyone interested in trying it out. iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/learn-thai-language-with-ling/id1299519848?mt=8 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simyasolutions.ling&hl=en

Hello everyone. I asked to create a group to propose Thai course for French speakers but didn't get answer from Duolingo yet. Indeed, I am French and I study English for Thai speakers on Duolingo. My wife is Thai as well and we would really like to work on this project and/or Thai for Spanish speakers as we are both Spanish speakers... Hope that we'll be able to contribute soon...

One more support for Thai for English speakers. I work in cross-cultural education, and Thailand is one of the places I've seen where the fewest tourists try to learn the local language. Duolingo could make a big impact there.

I have just started a LINE group for slowly teaching the Thai writing system. I wonder if I should copy and paste lessons to here.

Yes that's a good idea! And why not sharing the group link so ppl willing to learn may join in as well. I'm also learning Thai script and it's pretty challenging.

Just adding to the clamor. I speak Thai quite well, but I was lazy over the last decade to practice writing. Rosetta Stone's product is trash, would love to find a solution as friendly as Duolingo to practice reading and writing without having to pay major $$$ to a tutor stateside or playing the timezone game with tutors over skype....

I personally don't see why duolingo doesn't allow people to access unfinished courses, or even just courses with only one lesson. Something is better than nothing.

I keep waiting, but its been years waiting for it to happen. I hear there is English for Thai speakers already, but what's the hold up to reverse the course ?

https://www.duolingo.com/ChanpavHuo

I wonder about the reverse course as well. I think it is easier to start a reverse than to start a completely new pair.

When will we get a Thai course for English speakers?? With duo plus now being pushed so hard why is it still taking more than 5 years to get the course online? Time is being spent on fantasy languages whilst real life important languages are being stalled... Crazy!!

There's English for Thai speakers being developed, you can see it in the Incubator:

https://incubator.duolingo.com/

From what I've heard, it's rather stalled, but I don't know any details. Anyway, it's quite likely that the reverse course will only go into development after this one is finished (typically the same team works on both directions).

Still waiting for this too... it's been a couple of years now and still no sign of development. I would return to Duolingo every day if there was English to Thai. And once I complete that course I'd return to the other languages.
