I want to share my lingots, who needs some?
It's nice of you to want to share with everyone but I don't need lingots at the moment because I already bought everything and always have enough to get the double or nothing. Thanks anyway! :)
Maybe you're thinking of won't, which is short for "will not"?
In English an apostrophe is used when a letter has been dropped - the word 'apostrophe' is from other words meaning 'to cast aside'. So "do not" becomes "don't" because we have cast aside the second 'o' etc.
Possessions also get the apostrophe treatment - I don't know whether this is true but I read somewhere that it comes from the shortening of (for example) "the king his sword" to "the king's sword". (Of course it doesn't work with "the queen her sword" or "the knights their swords", so perhaps it's just a way to remember.
A very large proportion of native English speakers make apostrophe (and spelling) errors so do not worry, concentrate on the speaking and listening side and leave the reading and writing until later.
p.s thanks but I do not want a lingot.
