Does it seem, to anyone else, that the audio track is saying "estas"? Maybe it's just my ear, but it sounds like an error to me.

The sentence is
"Ŝajnas, ke la ŝtelisto estis kulpa."
but the audio is
"Ŝajnas, ke la ŝtelisto estas kulpa."
Not true, as we don't know what crime they were on trial for.
It could be, for example, that they were a prisoner (for theft) who was accused of stabbing another prisoner...Thus, the thief was guilty of murder.

Why not "It looks like that the thief was guilty"? Or is this once again one of those brain-fart-ish English thingies?
