Obligatory Finished My Tree Post
My tree is fully lit and I'm quite excited. I'm doing pretty good with reading and writing, but could still use work on my hearing of the language and understanding it quickly. Right now I'm going through the "Warum Nicht?" course on Radio Deutsche Welle and have been doing the "Michaela in Deutschland" lessons in the "Deutsch Für Dich" course at the Goethe Institute. I've also been listening to German songs and watching some German TV. Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much Jen! I've really enjoyed the episodes in that first link so far.
You may check this link for slow german news http://www.dw.com/en/langsam-gesprochene-nachrichten-learning-german/a-2925601 I am planning to start listening to this once I finish my german tree in duolingo, but I heard that its very useful.
Congrats! Listening to pretty much anything is going to be helpful. You can listen to the actually Deutsche Welle news. It may default your language on the website so English, so you'll have to choose German off the list at the top "DW in 30 Languages" if it does.
You can also see if Netflix, Amazon, etc. have some German shows. Even if you watch with subtitles it will help you with your listening comprehension and just being more used to hearing the sounds of the language.
Thank you all for the links! Since you mentioned Netflix and Amazon, do you know if either or both have German subtitles for all, at least some popular American TV shows?
I'm not sure. I always thought the subtitles were written by whoever produced the show or movie so it would depend on if they added them.
I'll find out from Netflix Germany which shows have subtitles... thanks for replying anyway!
sugestion: yabla. german native speakers in videos (cartoons, docs, etc.) subtitled in both german and english. 3 difficulty levels, loops and speed level controls for playing the videos, interactive dictionary. subscription is quite cheap. you have free samples before deciding to buy one.
