why letter use "en", apple use "et"? i knew apple is a neutral noun, but isn't letter is a neutral noun too?

Letter is "brev," and like "eple," it's a neuter noun. "A letter" is "et brev."

Additionally, 'letter' (the weird symbols in an alphabet) can also mean 'bokstav', which would be masculine. "A letter" = "en bokstav".
