I doesn't have to be in Turkish (or in English for that matter). "Yesterday I cooked fish. Today I cook chicken. Tomorrow I cook beef." etc.

That does sound odd in English though. It makes me picture a cook who until last night specialized in fish but now has made a career change to chicken. Barring a strange case like that the present continuous for today's cooking would sound much more natural in English.

Not really odd in English....What do you cook on Tuesday? - today I cook chicken, on Thursdays I cook beef.

Fine with on Tuesdays etc but not with today, for me.
