Should the conjunction "or" mean "and yet" in this example? The translation "now" doesn't make sense in English.

The conjunction 'or' means 'now' in the sense of 'but it happens that', 'and yet'.

Granted, but the sentence "I want wine; now, I am a child" sounds extremely weird in English!
