Der Frau?

In a practice session I was given the sentence "ich danke der Frau" to type out. Is this correct? I thought it should be "Ich danke die Frau."

"Die Frau" - Nominativ; "Der Frau" - Genitiv.

Der Frau is Genetiv; but in this case it is dativ.

der is also femine dativ. "the woman" is the indirect object ...think of it like "I (give) thank(s) (to) the woman" (There is alot of power in these little D-words!)

@achudars & zippaddee: you are both right. an dativ for "the women" is again "der Frau"
