"You are a dog" is not a sentence that might be heard...

lol agreed. This is not exactly practical. I've said it to my dog a couple of times now and he just looks at me, as if to say, "well duh".

Yep. It is rude and offensive if you tell that to a man. :-)

my thoughts exactly! it's not exactly a sentence that belongs here... that almost reminds me: is there a jargon/curse words module? it's essential! xP. Lolol

I agree with you all! It's not really something we need to learn, unless a dog accidentally forgets what it is (as well as the fact it would have to understand Italian)! Still, at least we know how to say it hehehe :)

I find this and "Sei una tigre." very useful.

I had to repeat the sentence because I was like "no, that doesn't make any sense," but then I got it right... If you want to practice the verb sei, do that somewhere besides the animals lesson. The drinks lesson would have been a wonderful place to do so. "you drink beer" is much more common than "you are a dog" I'm sure.

Don't say this to an Italian man. It is quite offensive.

Can this be used colloquially?

Yes. I think this is an insult to Italian men. Congratulations, we've learned our first insult in Italian!
