When this word was first introduced, it translated as first name...

That's the answer I used, "first name" and it worked. What's the prob?

Strange - I accidentally recorded the English translation ("the first name"), but it still came out as correct.

Funny, it didn't accept the translation "The surname", but it seems that it accepts "The forename". What's the difference (in english) between surname and forename?

Surname is your family name. Forename is the name given to you by your parents.

e.g. Joe Bloggs: Joe is the forename, Bloggs is the surname.
