Who would like to learn Latin in Duolingo?

Even if it's considered a dead language, this is a beautiful language rich in history. It would be great if it was available here.

As I understand it, Latin will be added when people who know Latin volunteer to create the course. It really isn't up to Duolingo staff. It's up to volunteers. So if you know anyone who knows Latin, ask them if they will become a contributor to the Latin course.

I hope people keep bringing it up until Duo puts Latin in the incubator. It is a complete "Verengan Ha'DIbaH" that they have put Klingon before Latin. ;-)

If there's Klingon, why not Latin?

Latin is probably the most anticipated language on Duolingo, there was a comment by the Duo's CEO that they will definitely add it, but no one has said when.

We are all waiting :D

It isn't a dead language! It's spoken in Vaticano City and that language makes easy to learn any Latin language because all the Latin languages come from Latin, i wanna Latin in duolingo!

But classical Latin is much cooler than ecclesiastical Latin.

absolutely, the history and language are so beautiful, it's a language I've always wanted to learn. I hope some people have time to make a Latin course at some point.

I'm with you: a Latin course would be super. But, Roman history is beautiful? :)

What would the flag look like?

Probably red, with "SPQR" on it in yellow. Hard to make that into a little thumbnail, though....

Good question. Maybe they'll use the Roman empire's flag.

I think it'd be the golden eagle on a red background, probably with SPQR under it with some leaves on either side. Or it could be Romulus and Remus, but that'd be hard to see

Completely. There are plenty of other languages I'd personally like to get to first, but I'd love to have it on Duolingo.
