Completed the Norwegian tree

After 109 days straight I have finished the Norwegian tree. Thanks to everyone for putting together such an amazing course. I can now understand most news items written in simple language such as klartale.no and I can understand the occasional sentence and general gist of their podcast.

Feels like a real accomplishment when I am listening/reading and can understand what used to be impenetrable. And there were some hilarious moments along the way as the iPhone voice recognition struggled a Scottish accent and came up with some interesting interpretations of what it thought I said :)

I am nowhere near being able to actually hold down a proper spoken conversation but could possibly be understood for simple things like ordering old etc… Short of actually moving to Norway I am looking for ways to improve my pronunciation and general conversational skills. I see the Danish group on Duolingo hold Skype sessions. Is there anything similar out there for Norwegian?

Tusen takk

Tip: "kjempe-" already conveys a higher degree of "veldig" by itself, so you shouldn't prefix it with an extra degree adverb :)

I'm going to continue with Norwegian as I am nowhere near fluent. I think I might do the folkeuniversitetet courses next and then on to the bergenstest. As I understand it this test is the one you need to pass in order to get most non English speaking jobs in Norway?

I don't want to disappoint you but nowadays there are almost no jobs for English speaking people in Norway. They require Norwegian or at least any Scandinavian language everywhere. Keep it up!

So I had heard. That's one of the reasons why I'm keen to get fluent and prove that through passing the Bergenstest. Another reason being well I just love the place and to integrate I'll need to know the language :) Will be interesting to see how far Duolingo has got me on the path...

I get you. I'm doing the same thing really =) It's been only 25 days for me and I can say that duolingo helps a lot more than I though. Good luck with that!

Gratulerer så mye, Tim!

I'm afraid I don't have the time to run a Skype group at the moment, but you could ask in the FB group whether there is any interest and perhaps set one up yourself. You could also look to language exchange sites for a conversation partner, as I'm sure there are some Norwegians itching to practice their English as well. :)
