Looking for TV series in Spanish!

Hello, I'm a total tv series addict and I figured I could turn this to my advantage by watching something in the languages I'm learning.

I recently watched Narcos on Netflix, which is mainly in Spanish, and it was awesome.

Do you have any other series to recommend? Please, no soap operas, as I cannot stand them.

Thank you!

I've decided to update this post with all the shows you have recommended (and some that people recommended elsewhere), so that others can access the information easily.

Explicitly for learners:

American shows:

Spanish shows:

If we reach a decent amount of shows, I'll be dividing the list into categories for easier search.

Thank again to everyone who's helping!

Well, this could be completely lame because I have just recently began exploring Spanish media, but I've been starting with Destinos, as a bridge. It's kind of a merge of a Spanish textbook and a kind of soap opera-ish thing. But if you hear Spanish really well already it might not be so helpful.

But here's the link anyway|| http://www.learner.org/series/destinos/index.html

As a fan of silly but fun science fiction shows, I enjoy El Ministerio del Tiempo http://www.rtve.es/television/ministerio-del-tiempo/capitulos-completos/ . Free & legal on what seems to be the Spanish equivalent of PBS/BBC. I find it useful to watch with subtitles turned on, but that's obviously a personal choice.

Maybe you could try TV Shows from Spain. They have many TV shows that are not like the typical latin american soap operas. And they usually have fewer episodes as well.

Can you recommend any title?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Internado El Internado is one of my favorite TV Shows ever. I think it is available on Netflix.

Another show that is on Netflix is Gran Hotel but I haven't watched it yet so I can't really speak of its quality but people seem to like it a lot.

And another one I recommend is Vis a Vis. S1 had 11 episodes I think and it has been renewed for S2. It's about a women's prison. It is not on Netflix though and there aren't any English subs available anywhere.

Spain has a very rich and varied entertaintment industry so you can find shows for pretty much every genre.

Yes, they suggested me to watch Extra in the twin thread I opened in the French section. Do you happen to know if all the episodes are the same in every language?

Have you tried Drama Fever or Viki? Both have Spanish language programming. You can toggle the subtitles to challenge yourself. Drama Fever had a few crime shows when I looked last.

Thanks so much for updating this! This is a great list! My suggestion would be "La Ciencia De Lo Absurdo". It is simular to Tosh.O in that they watch youtube videos of people failing, but then they go into the science of it and discussed why they failed. All while speaking in spanish the whole time. It is interesting and demonstrates lots of science words with contextual clues.

I have found El Chavo or El Chavo del Ocho, the original 1970's Mexican version, sitcom very entertaining and helpful. There is also a revived animation version I have not watched yet, like seeing grown adults in children clothing gets me every time, but will when i finish the series. Both are on Netflix give them a shot.

Thanks for posting all the shows up at the top. That's really helpful. Any interest in podcasts? There are some good ones out there and good for those times when you can't watch something but you can listen (like while driving or on public transit, or doing chores/housework).
