Bilingual learning

Hello, I'm a fluent speaker of spanish and english, and I'm learning french and portuguese, but I started learning french from english, and portuguese from spanish. The problem is that the duolingo's platform makes it a little tricky to change from one course to the other: If I am in the french (from english course) and I want to go to the portuguese (from spanish) one, this is what I do:

  • I have to select "add a new course", from the "learning" menu at the top. -Then select "I speak english". -Then select the french course from the list. -Then click in the duolingo-home button.

.... so, my suggestion is to fix this, and let the person move from one to the other with one click from the "learning" menu.

In this way any other bilingual speakers can learn different languages from the ones that they already know. And not from just one of them.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this kind of problem, but I hope there is some sort of way to direct it to the correct place if it's not.

There is a user script which will allow you to change courses quicker. However, Duo has been aware of this problem for a long time so I assume they have other priorities.

There is a faster way to change the language without script. Click on the flag top left from your current language tree. You come to a list with all current language combinations.

I always change in this way between English and Spanisch for German speakers and German for Englisch speakers.

Hi there

I'm learning several languages (from French and from English). I also think it would be good to provide an easier way to switch the language you learn from.

It has been proven that once you're good enough in a language to learn other languages from that language, the efficiency of the learning is increased. Duolingo being all about learning languages, it should encourage this.

Anyway for the time being, I guess I'll give a try to the Userscript.
