My sentence uses a peculiarity (certainty of the past) of the English "must", that was not used in the original sentence though. See the first bullet point: here . Are you sure I can do that in Esperanto too?

It does not sound strange to me in neither Esperanto nor my native language Norwegian when translated that way.
