Probably this has come up before, but I really wish Duolingo would offer some kind of reward or recognition for a perfectly gilded tree, like a trophy or bonus lessons or something. I still have levels to progress through, but it feels like there's less to strive for now.
I think all that gold is the reward.
Plus, of course, you get to learn a language ;-)
Yeah, I agree with this. When I see a non-gold lesson on my beautiful tree, it just sticks out and pesters me. When I regold it, I'm happy and content again. Also, you get 10 xp for making a lesson gold again, so your even closer to leveling up!
Also, if there was a reward for making your tree gold again, I would have so many of them because it seems like a lesson or two changes color a day.
Perhaps if you kept your tree gold for say 30 days or something - then they put something on your profile page. Just getting it to gold for one day may not be that big of a step for someone who has recently completed the tree.
I just mean the slightest positive reinforcement. First time gold, perhaps a trophy as an accomplishment reminder. Maybe each additional time, just a message that pops up that tells you you're fully gilded. It would also save the trouble of having to scan the tree each time.
I know these rewards have no intrinsic value, but there's something about pushing the right motivational buttons that has a strong Pavlovian effect.
