"Neither...nor" constructions usually contrast two opposites. I would say that food could be both delicious and gross (Deep-fried Mars Bar, anyone?), at least in some people's opinion. Delicious rather contrasts with tasteless and gross ... I don't really use this word... contrasts with fine?
