Removing words from practice does not work

I was fed up with easy words like "eat", "drink", "write" and "read" and removed them from practice. However, when I did a lesson practice today, I got those words almost in every sentence. And not only were they there, they were also highlighted blue - as far as I understand, this highlight is used for words assigned to practice.

The funny thing is that I really sometimes make mistakes in these verbs: I see them so regularly that I'm often inattentive and type "lee" instead of "leo", for example. But even with that, if I remove a word from practice, it should not be targeted for it, should it?

Has anybody else experienced that? And could this be fixed, please?

Yeah, I find it weird how Duolingo's algorithms work. I thought that the more you practice vocabulary, the less and less words will decay since it is now in long term memory, but instead words like colours and food keep appearing everyday, and words that you only see once appear once a month, and then stay in full gold bars. I then tried to remove the words from practice so I could review the words that I don't see at all, but instead they keep showing up or they keep losing their strength.

Hmm, I have not tried it personally, but I think that unless you remove all forms of the word, present, past, future, and all other strange permutations, it will keep coming back to haunt you. Besides, like tatou mentioned, sometimes the word you are practising is another one. So perhaps the bug is really just the "blue highlight" for a removed word.

There is no option to remove particular forms, just the whole word.

Maybe it's really the blue highlight problem, but I was really upset to get "Ellos leen" (They read) after I excluded "leer" from practice. Can't believe I still have to practice "ellos" and there was no way except to give it with "leen" %)
