In Finnish there is an idiom "letting a frog come out of your mouth" about saying something embarrassingly stupid, linguistic or otherwise :)

It's even more common to shorten it and just say "groda" (literally just "frog"). The verb/expression is "göra en groda". To illustrate: Kungen gjorde en groda när han tilltalade Arbogaborna som "kära Örebroare."
