Then "however" would normally apply to "ŝi", not to "parolas la ĉinan".
If you were comparing two persons, one speaking Chinese, the other not, it is how I would express it.
But since you're comparing/contrasting what one and only person can and cannot do, I doubt it.
(Unless there is two "ŝi" there, one speaking neither Japanese, nor Chinese, the second indeed speaking Chinese.)
