Down votes in English to French
Is it just me, or are there a lot of down votes given out by the people translating English to French? No edit, no explanation. I have up votes and down votes on the same unedited sentences. It makes it sort of useless as a learning tool and it's a bit discouraging. Oh, well.
Some days ago someone has downvoted me 15 times, anonymously; the main problem is the rule in duolingo that only higher levels can downvote: 1) this is very discriminating 2) it does not allow comparisons between the users 3) it allows anonymity 4) it is assumed on the assumption that a higher level automatically means error-free 5) it lets some people like my anonymous to do things like this. I agree with buddyshady, it is useless as a learning tool; the solution is to abolish downvotes.
Yea, 15 times without an explanation is annoying as hell. If it's wrong, then it's wrong (still, it's kind of lame to down vote it, but I get it), but I'm really more interested in the correction so that I can learn from it. That's really the point of doing this whole thing. If there's no explanation, then you're just left wondering.
.... No explanation or edit. Just a down vote. Maybe it's just youngsters being a pain in the ass. Not sure.
... or maybe some frustrated guy without courage that does not accept edits from others.
Totally. It' has to be something like that. I have 10 down votes on sentences that also all have up votes. It seems like someone was having a bad day and just started giving out down votes, haha!
