It seems to have been an issue with AWS. Some other websites were also impacted. Funny thing, I don't seem to see language level flags besides any of the posts here.
Edit: And now I do.
It was clearly an unplanned outage. Amazon web services had a glitch this morning with a server in Virginia, which affected much of the Northeast, presumably Duolingo included.
ah that makes sense. After I posted here, another website I go to a lot was also down.
I lost all my progress! :( Level 12 in English, Level 7 in French, What should I do?
I've lost my progress too today. What did you do to restore it? I was 23% fluent french and now only 12% - has made me want to stop using this now!
