En stund vocab confusion

En Stund means a while, correct? How do you say "In a while"? Duolingo has a translation for En Stund as "For awhile"

en stund means "a while" or "a bit".

If you wanted to say "in a while", you could say om en stund.

Thank you! But do you know why Duolingo translated en stund as "For a while'?

We typically don't use a preposition in Swedish when talking about doing something for a duration. So e.g.

  • I slept for a while = jag sov en stund
  • I slept for an hour = jag sov en timme
  • etc.

When talking about a fixed duration, such as an hour, you can use i en timme, but the preposition is unnecessary.

Was that the full sentence? I would need to see the context. If it comes up again, click on the "Discuss sentence" button.

Or perhaps someone else can chime in.
