A quick thank you to the Swedish team!
My father sells books, and during a book fair he picked me up a Swedish children's book.
It's the first one in a series (the next one just came out) by Ulf Nilsson that focuses on "Kommissarie Gordon", a toad-detective, who solves all sorts of animal crimes. In this case:
Det första fallet: En nöttjuv härjar i skogen! (GASP!)
And you know what? I understand it all!
So I just wanted to thank you guys. Having just been added to the Dutch team, I now realize how much time and effort goes into building and maintaining a course like this. While I sometimes wondered why on earth I would ever need a certain word, I'm glad that you decided to throw it in there anyway.
So in the midst of all the posts complaining about lost streaks and WHY IS THERE NO [insert obscure language here] ON DUOLINGO, I just wanted to say that you guys have done a great job, and that you've helped me go from only knowing the word "smörgåsbord" to reading an actual book, even though it's about a toad solving a case of missing nuts.
For anyone interested, you can read part of the book here.
Hejsan, Charlotte. I agree with you - the Swedish team are brilliant! They have answered all my questions patiently and have shown to have a great sense of humour. They have made studying Swedish a very pleasant experience, even though I am not a talking elk (Jag är inte en talande älg)! :)
It makes me glad to hear our work is appreciated!
Likewise, I have a great deal of admiration for the people over at the Dutch course. It's great. :)
We should have a Dutch/Swedish meeting, somewhere in the middle, like Berlin :P
Let's hope for yet another incubator summit some day. Last one was great. :)
