Community Rankings or Hall of Fame

I started Duolingo almost twelve months ago and have pursued it with fanatical dedication. I would like to see a Hall Of Fame feature where people can see how they stack up to the craziest amongst us. On this Hall Of Fame people could see things like the following: Top 50 longest streak days and how many people have achieved, or are at, that number, and show the names associated with the top five days - Top 50 most points per language - A list of people or a count of people with multiple language mastery.

Other features that would be great: A time log showing how much time has been spent studying each language – A percentile indicator on your profile showing how each of your stats ranks among the entire Duolingo community, for example somebody with a 200 day streak would probably have a 98.56% percentile.

I'd like that. It might feel exclusive to some people, especially beginners, but I think that it would motivate many more. Instead of "Hall of Fame", why not call it a Leaderboard? So, not longest streaks ever, but the current longest streak standings and the current highest point counts.

I like that but I'd split it into two parts: a Hall of Fame for historical longest streaks and highest points by language and the Leaderboard for current streaks and points by reporting period. That way, one can see those who've been around and are long term learners and community contributors and those who are currently on fire with their learning.

I'm just not sure if someone should be immortalized for a long streak that they no longer maintain.

Puddleglum - After all if they made a historical long Streak, like say 1000 or more - sure, why not? How many users would ever get to 1000th Streak Day at all? =) At least I would like my longest Streak to be recorded =) Greets, JV

That would be nice, but it is more important to add content and challenges to actually improve your knowledge... I would like to improve my Spanish, but after completing the skill tree there is no much else to do, random timed practice is too easy. So even with a leaderboard I wouldn't be very motivated to get more points.

After I finished the skill tree in Spanish I just worked to maintain a gold status on each lesson while switching my focus to Portuguese. I also added some audio lessons like Michel Thomas and started listening to podcasts in Spanish. I highly recommend the News In Slow Spanish podcasts. When immersion isn’t practical the podcasts are a great substitute.

Thanks for the advice on the podcasts ;)

I realize I wasn't very clear in my post earlier though, what I would really like to have is a way to earn more points (or faster) for advanced users. Timed practices are relatively easy and give at most 20 points. Therefore, right now having a huge amount of points doesn't necessarily mean that you are very good in that language, but just that you are an old, dedicated user of the website. The idea of the leaderboards is very interesting in theory, but at the moment is less meaningful than what it could be.

To make an example, my level in Spanish is much, much better than French, much more than one would imagine looking at the amount of points. If instead there were, for instance, advanced tests giving 50 points per session, I could do them only in Spanish and then the difference in knowledge would be clear.

I would love this. I have tried to persuade so many friends of mine to start this, all I have now is a list of people with 10 skill points in my friend list. I would love to see people who are as enthusiastic as me!

I kind of want to see an indicator that shows how many people have accomplished getting their language trees. I have no idea why I want this. I just do. Also, I would love to see a list of the people with the most tiers for translation/immersion.
