"Are you drinking milk?"

I thought this would have been "Do you drink milk?" based on other questions I have answered in the past. I can't tell why "are/drinking" was used. Help/tips?

In my opinion, "buvez-vous..." can translate similarly in "do you drink... or are you drinking...."

Now if you want to start with the English, you have more options:

"do you drink milk" = "buvez-vous du lait" "are you drinking milk" = "êtes-vous en train de boire du lait" (where "en train de" expresses the continuous action). In addition, you can also say: " bois-tu du lait" or "es-tu en train de boire..." .

Ahh, thank you! Your point about going from English-French made it much clearer :)
