True. However, we always try to find the closest English equivalent to the Dutch sentence. We're obviously trying to teach the 'as large as' concept here, so if we were to accept 'the same as' (even though it sounds more natural) one could think that this is also what it means in Dutch, even though that would translate as 'hetzelfde als'.
