"Good songs or singers (or artists)" can be different for everyone. We all can like the different songs or singers. And everyone says the singers who are listened by him / her are better. So i can only suggest my popular songs or singers in Turkish and Turkey for you. When a singer sings a song, those are important for me: 1-) The music must be nice and original. 2-) The singer has to use Turkish very well. 3-) The song has to be a meaning. 4-) The singer's diction and pronunciation must be nice and understandable. 5-) And the singer and / or the song must be permanent.

So here's a sing / singer list I can offer you:

1-) Erkin Koray (Turkish / Anatolian Rock Singer) - All his songs are understandable and they have nice melodies and words.

Examples: Estarabim, Şaşkın, Kızları da Alın Artık Askere, Çöpçüler...

2-) Fikret Kızılok (Turkish Soft Rock Singer) - His songs are usually soft, slow and restful. (He was dead in 2001).

Examples: Zaman Zaman, Bu Kalp Seni Unutur mu?, Tek Başına, Sevda Çiçeği...

3-) Kıraç (Turkish / Anatolian Rock Singer) - His songs are usually hard and his voice is strong. His words can be understood very easily. (Especially, the song that belongs to him: Gidiyorum.)

Examples: Gidiyorum, Zaman, Bir Garip Aşk Bestesi, Razıysan Gel Benimle, Gönül, Yıllar Sonra, Endamın Yeter...

4-) İlhan İrem (Turkish Rock Singer) - Most people don't know this singer but he is the one of the best singers in Turkey (trust me). :) His songs and words have a lot of meanings. His voice and sound are soft. And his songs are usually philosophic.

Examples: Sürgün Gibi Masallarda, Anlasana (a very nice love song), Buruk, Konuşamıyorum, İki Duvar Arasında, Olanlar Olmuş, Yazık Oldu Yarınlara...

5-) Edip Akbayram (Turkish Rock Singer) - His voice is strong and words are a little political sometimes.

Examples: Aldırma Gönül, Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm, Sen Benden Gittin Gideli, Eşkiya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz...

6-) Zülfü Livaneli (Turkish Rock / Political Singer) - He has a baritone voice and he sings political (and Turkish folkloric) songs.

Examples: Güneş Topla Benim İçin, Leylim Ley, Gözlerin, Yiğidim Arslanım, Ey Özgürlük, Karlı Kayın Ormanı...

7-) Haluk Levent (Turkish Rock Singer) - He usually sings allegro, strong and nice songs.

Examples: Yollarda Bulurum Seni, Ankara'da, Elfida, Mektup, Hani Benim Olacaktın?...

8-) Selda Bağcan (Turkish Rock Singer) - She has a very strong and original voice. She usually sings Turkish folkloric and political songs.

Examples: Adaletin Bu mu Dünya, Gesi Bağları, Gazeteci, Beni Unutma...

9-) Ahmet Kaya (Turkish Protest Singer) - His voice is very strong and his words usually are political. But sometimes he uses Turkish a little strange. (For example: We say "mahalle" in Turkish, but he says "mahle" in one of his songs. Or we say "mavi" and in this word we put the accent on the letter "a", but [in one of his songs] he puts the accent on the letter "i"). (He was dead in 2000).

Examples: Ağlama Bebeğim, Şafak Türküsü, ❤❤❤ Gibi, Söyle, Giderim, Nerden Bileceksiniz?, Kadınlar, Acilara Tutunmak...

10-) Barış Manço (Turkish Rock Singer) - I am sure you know this singer. His songs are very famous. In his songs you can find a lot of Turkish idioms. (For example: Yaz tahtaya bir daha / Tut defteri kitabı / Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa / Bir gün öder hesabı. - İnsanın bir kez ters gitmesin işi / Muhallebi yerken kırılır dişi.) (He was dead in 1999).

Examples: Dönence, Halhal, Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa, Gülpembe, Dağlar Dağlar, Unutamadım, Arkadaşım Eşek, Kol Düğmeleri...

11-) Cem Karaca (Turkish Rock Singer) - He usually sings political and Turkish folkloric songs. He has a very strong voice. (He was dead in 2004).

Examples: Islak Islak, Tamirci Çırağı, Resimdeki Gözyaşları, Namus Belası, Ceviz Ağacı...

Of course the list above is my favorite singers and songs. And there are a lot of singers and songs in Turkey. My list is only some of them. But I hope this list will be useful for you.

And I hope you live all your life just like very nice songs.

Sincerely...

Turkish music is just so good and it sounds beautiful, although I don't understand most of it.

If you're into rock then listen to: Duman (Yürek, senden daha güzel, helal olsun) Athena (Kayıp, sende yap, arsız gönül) MaNga (Bir kadın çizeceksin, dursun zaman, cevapsız sorular) Mör ve ötesi (bir derdim var, ayıp olmaz mı, cambaz, oyunbozan)

These are some other bands I like: Ezginin günlüğü: (Ebruli, aşk bitti, Yastıklı Şarkı) Yüzyüzeyken konuşuruz (Ateş edecek misin, kendi evimde deplasmandayım, yaz geçer)

Sezen Aksu, Adja Pekkan, Nesrin Sipahi, Erkin Koray, Ümit Besen, Ferdi Özbeğen, Ferdi Tayfur, İbrahim Tatlıses, Hüseyin Altın, Esmeray, Belkıs Özener, Neşe Karaböcek, Tülay Özer, Gönül Yazar, Semiramis Pekkan, Şükran Ay, Gülden Karaböcek, Ayten Alpman. ^_^

Sezen Aksu was placed in the top 50 best voices ever recorded in any language. Check out the songs Tutsak, Vazgectim and Seni Kimler Aldi. The vocals are also fairly reasonable to follow along with for new learners of Turkish, like myself.

Levent yüksel is a good music writer, performer and also a musician. I think his 90's work is a landmark of turkish music such as "medcezir" , "zalim" , "beni bırakın" and "tuana" . A must listen.

Mirkelam had done really good tracks on 2000's , highly recommended.

If you like electronic music , my recommendation is Bedük. Fun to listen.

Bedük is crazy! I saw the video for automatik by bedük and I'm scarred for life.
