Polish is at 90%!
I can’t believe it. Amazing work, Team Polish! A few months ago, I wouldn’t have imagined this. I’ve been awaiting the Polish and Russian courses since they entered the incubator, and Russian has always been far ahead. Now, Polish is at 90% and Russian isn’t released yet.
For those of you excited for the Polish course or interested in having some exposure to the language, here are a few songs:
Enej - Kamień z napisem LOVE - This was played a lot on the radio when I was in Poland this summer. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBj5P71Mci4
Bednarek – Cisza – If you’re into the guitar and singer type of music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SEg695ce3k
Enej - Symetryczno-Liryczna - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTJPQ4TW4Jw
And here are some pictures of Polish cities I took when I was there this summer:
Baltic sea: (Around Sopot, I think):
Nie mogę się doczekać! Dziękuję bardzo!
Yayyy ! I am also excited to know when Polish is entering in beta. My secret satisfaction is to see the course released before Russian :P
I think that would be a better comeback than if Brazil had won that soccer match against Germany a few years ago.
Me too! I'd much rather learn a language written in Cyrillic with a previous knowledge of a romanized Slavic tongue. :)
I'll preface this by saying I'm heavily biased towards Slavic languages and wouldn't remotely want to put someone off, but Cyrillic is maybe the easiest thing about Slavic languages, and can actually be really helpful. A new letter versus having to learn a new pronunciation for a familiar letter, and fewer consonant clusters because the alphabet is better suited to the language.
I would suggest learning Polish first if you want to learn Polish, rather than because it'll be a stepping stone into another language.
That said, by ALL means learn Polish, because it's a gorgeous language <3
Yeah, it looks like something out of a fairy tale. I remember reading somewhere that the houses were made narrow, long, and tall, because the taxes were based on the width of the house.
yes all those picture are really nice can't wait for polish to get out and good job team polish
That's awesome! Dziękuję bardzo! Your progress has been amazing. I wish you all the best with the rest of the course. Wszystkiego najlepszego!
For those looking for the update: https://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/pl/en/status
Here you are, Progress Update #7, from zim_ek:
Today's progress update is short and sweet. Here's what we did:
The course has passed the 90% mark!
We've removed all the unnecessary skills from the English template and replaced them with ones that are more suitable teaching Polish
There will be a single skill featuring the passive voice and another one for participles
We've added almost all the words that we wanted to have in the course (there's one more empty skill; of course we might also add/remove some words as we work on the skills)
We've finished Future Imperfect and we're currently working on pure vocabulary skills (Business, Science, Abstract Objects) as well as grammatical ones (Conditional mood)
Once we finish all the skills, we'll take some time to revise the tree, correct sentences and hints, and write Tips & Notes.
Thank you for all your support - we read your comments and are very excited for the upcoming beta.
Wow! This post really inspired me into learning at least some Polish... thx, a Lingot for you :-)
Yay it's gonna be the first Slavic language with a Latin alphabet on Duolingo! I wish Russian would put a consistent realease date.
I think that Russian never has a consistent release date because the course on the contributors' part is already virtually finished; it's just that they are waiting for the Duolingo team to finish some technical stuff that they don't know about.
Trójmiasto (Tricity, the cities of Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot) is a very nice place to visit. The architecture is beautiful, restaurants with outdoor patios lining the streets, shipyards, cliffs and beaches by the Baltic Sea, it was lovely.
I would like Kraków to be in my plans for my next visit to Poland.
I can't wait. The amount of progress they have made over the last few months has been amazing.
Nareszcie mogę powiedziec dla moich kolegów gdzie mogą uczyć się polskiego .
Wow, now I've got excited to learn it. I can't believe the last time I saw the Polish course progress it was around 70% (Hindi was ahead of Polish) and now it got to 91% , truly amazing. Go team Polish !!!
