ambiguous: "como pan" also means "like bread"

"Like bread" isn't a full sentence. Duolingo uses punctuation, so the period after pan lead me to believe this was a full sentence, which would be "I eat bread."

There is no "Yo" in front of como, so why not just "eat bread"?

We don't need the subject because our verbs are conjugated and tell us who the subject is, but English needs a subject,.
