Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Removing Listen and Type Exercises withOUT removing sound completely

I am partially deaf. I struggle to hear the differences between words, especially in languages I'm not familiar. I always seem to fail lessons mainly due to the listen and translate questions. Often times I'm wrong because of sounds like "Ella" vs "Ello". I know the microphone can be turned off completely in the settings but I do like hearing the language text outloud on the other questions. Will Duolingo support specifically selecting what types of lessons to be used without having to sacrifice sound completely? Also, I know that if you click the sound button next to the text it will say it, but it is nice to have it automatically spoken as it does with microphone turned on in the settings.

I also think it's difficult to understand the computerized voice at times. Improving the voice quality might be helpful.

I hope DL provides multiple formats for this among other reasons. An audio only format (With a braille input option), a talk-to-text format if that isn't already available through external software and maybe even if it is, an audio-free format, as well as the current format, and any I haven't thought of.

I know for the app, this is definitely possible! As that is how my current settings work - i have listening/speaking exercises both off, but the audio plays automatically for me. I'm not sure about the web version of duolingo though.

Or maybe have your own voice for the audio to text translations?

I un-checked the option in the settings so there is no sound, but I click on the little icon everytime there is a new word, or whenever. It still plays the audio, however I wish it would auto play the audio without having the listening comprehension lessons. THEY ARE SO ANNOYING!
