Thanks for the half-hearts!

I have recently noticed that for some mistakes I don't lose a full heart, but just a half. In the end, the halves round up for the coin counting, but 2.5 heart won't earn you a lingot. I didn't understand the rules about when a mistake costs half or a full heart, but I like this feature.

Thank you, Duolingo!

I have been offline for the weekend - enough time for such a change and enough time for your topic (much better than mine, btw.) to fade to lower positions. Thanks for the link.

I haven't seen this half heart feature yet. How do you get it?

I think that you lose only half-heart when you do a mistake, but then you fix the mistake with the "Fix mistakes" button (that sometimes appears). Am I wrong?

You mean you lose a whole heart and then you get a half back when you fix the mistake? In that case you are correct.

That sounds good although I do not have it yet. Maybe it still has to be implemented for the App? Does anybody know? Thanks

I haven't got this option yet either so perhaps it is still getting rolled out.

Yes, this is a great feature, because then you don't 'die' so quickly, and have a chance to complete exercises without losing all your hearts. It makes the result closer to the actual number of correct responses - before, you could fail the whole exercise, even if you were 80% right. The half hearts allow for small mistakes, and fixing them. Thanks, Duo!
