Give the Duolingo team a break!

I see discussions all the time about how "oh I want this language" and "oh I want that language". But don't bother to use the languages offered at this free website. The Duolingo team is only like 10 to 15 people and they put all their time and effort into this website and all I hear people do is complain, complain, and complain. At least some people are nice enough to compliment the Duolingo team. So please just give them a break and say thanks. :D

I think Duolingo is great. I teach middle school Spanish. This has become our go-to activity when students finish work ahead of other students, but I have a few students who are seriously using Duolingo outside of class to improve their language skills. Yes, there are a few glitches in the translations, but any questions I have had have been addressed in the discussions. Thank you, Duolingo staff AND students who contribute positively to the discussions.

yeah, thanks staff, for everything ...but what break? now languages are being developed by contributors, people out of the staff, through incubator. if someone wants a language, better he pulls sleeves up himself or find some willing compatriots to do the job.

in my opinion, with all those up-coming languages, for maintenance they're gonna be lot busy than before anyway, once they reach beta. BTW not all complains are worthless; some are constructive criticism. there is a french saying that goes "en faisant n'importe quoi, on devient n'importe qui" and another we know all: with higher power comes greater responsibilities.

I agree with you but not all complaints are constrictive criticism. Most of them are I want this language and I want that language. I just want people to keep in mind that this is a free website.

I agree with you if they are complaining. but wanting a new language is not complaining. I like the page and thats the reason i would like to see czech for english or german. I like the page and I want to learn czech and i am willing to pay for it and also contribute where i can. so for me wanting new languages is a compliment. that there are limited recourses and that they want to make it proper before offering a new language is understandable and appreciated. does not change the fact that i would like to have it implemented today. not complaining, just saying.

Ooh, I want Czech too. I've considered going to the Czech museum here where they offer free courses (it's a Czech/German/Polish town) and learning enough to contribute or trying to get someone that speaks fluently to contribute. That being said, I really like the site and will like it regardless of if the languages I want don't come. The idea is good and I've learned more about Portuguese here than living three years in Brazil. Granted, I had my head stuck in a computer the entire time there.

I feel so bad for the DL team sometimes D: I hate making suggestions because I'm afraid they come off as demands, y'know?

And SOME people really do take Duolingo for granted. I remember when the incubator had been out for less than a month and some people were saying things like "I can't believe how long the courses are taking. At this rate we won't learn Korean until next year." Really?? Thousands of lessons aren't done overnight! 'Next year' isn't even that far away. Some peeps need to learn patience O:

But, also, I think people have certain rights to wonder about different languages. I mean, if they don't ask for different languages, then they probably won't get different languages. So I think ASKING for new languages is fine, but repeatedly asking for languages and complaining about them, that's taking Duolingo for granted. I love this site!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDD

I don't see why people are complaining about this website. I was looking for a free website where you could learn about different languages and this was first website that came up. I was only on here for 5 minutes and I discovered the most amazing and fun website. It is so great! I am trying to learn Spanish and I have learned so much more that I feel almost like a South American. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great language learner website.

I never liked French at school. It was boring. I couldn't catch anything. Now it's been a week since I started French all over again and it gives me that awesome positive feeling of learning something every minute. My only suggestion to the team is to add a voice to the verbs conjuration in the Vocabulary section. Like...when you hover over a specific verb form the voice would tell you how it's said. Still, I love Duolingo
