Wheen is it "rood" and when is it "rode"? Is there a rule for this?

When I don't say "of" before the first option, my dutch neighbors make fun of me. But here it actually makes it wrong ;D

I think this is my bad. The Either/Or of/of is just for statements... so "de bus is" of rood of geel... but not when its a question... "is de bus...?" ;D
