Is -tøy used the same way as -zeug is in German?

Not as common as the German -zeug, but there are still many examples

I don't know the use of -zeug in German well, but at least you have a similar type of construction in Norwegian with -tøy (think about: Fartøy, kjøretøy, leketøy, verktøy....).

A car is a specific type of vehicle. "Kjøretøy" is the general term.

It would be like translating "bil" as "sports car".
