Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Idea: have an option to choose which direction we translate when we are practicing

I'm not sure I explained that very well. So, here it goes: When I am practicing a German skill I've already learned, I've noticed that Duolingo has a tendency to overload me with sentences in German that I should translate to English. The problem is, my German reading skills are doing fairly well. It's my ability to produce sentences in German that are the problem. And yet, I get very few sentences in English that I need to put in German. In a practice set of 20 items, I might get 17 or 18 items in German to change to English, and only 2 or 3 the other way. I really feel like I need more practice taking something in English and turning it into German.

Would it be possible to click a button or something to set it so that it ONLY gives English to German translation exercises, or vice versa, or whatever?

This has been suggested a lot, and until they actually do something about it, the way most people deal with it is just to do the reverse tree.

you can do a reverse tree, just go to the language options and choose English for german speakers

Thanks -- I didn't think about that. I'll give it a try!
