Tips and Notes - Questions gives this example : Quel grand garçon il est ! — What a tall boy he is! Should this be 'Quel garçon grand il est !' ? My reason : in Tips and Notes - Adjectives this example was given: 'Napoleon was un grand homme (a great man) but not un homme grand (a tall man)' Please clarify!

There is a list of adjectives that come before the noun they modify rather than after the noun-' grand' will come before the noun whether it is intended to mean 'big' or 'great.' Hopefully someone will come along with the list of before-noun adjectives...pretty much you just have to memorize them. Hope that helps a little :)

Thanks stripedkitty! But I don't think you are right. In my example from Tips and Notes - Adjectives it specifically says, with respect to "grand", "For people, it comes before a noun when it means 'important' and after the noun when it means 'tall'." Does that mean you have to use a person's name (Napoleon) to make him a "people"? Still confused, but thanks for trying!

Lol, okay, you inspired me to do a little research and I've learned something new. There is a helpful discussion about adjective placement including, if you scroll down, the grand before vs after noun meanings...didn't know about this, so thanks! Discussion is here: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/5618 Cheers!

Good work! There is a link provided by DXLi (i think) that really gets into this French adjectives thing. From what I see there Duolingo has made a mistake in the Tips and Notes - Questions and that "Quel grand garçon il est ! " should be translated as What a great boy he is! and not What a tall boy he is! Thanks for your help!
