Some prepping or reference for learning

I'm just getting started on Verbs:Past for the first time and I'm not sure the rules of changing Verbs to past tense. The test format of Duolingo doesn't explain much in this way. It would be nice to have some kind of prep before starting this lesson, or at least a reference chart that I can pull up that gives some kind of explanation.

Hi there! Thank you for your suggestion, we will consider it.

I wonder why this was never done. I speak Spanish and English and I still couldn't get through Verbs/past tense without getting external help. It had never happened until I reached this section.

This might help: (click on 5.1)

Learning conjugation through Duolingo is tough, I'm having the same problem with French.

This was such a helpful website. I tried to go back to it today to refresh a bit, but it says 404 page not found :/

Oh wow! I guess they just moved some stuff around on the website, thanks a lot!

Yes, some kind of chart before starting the grammar section could be good. Gives you a broad overview of it all, a mental landscape that you don't necessarily memorize, but which sinks into your unconscious mind.

I agree with vivalahumanidad (nice nickname, BTW) More over, that chart could appear everytime you make a mistake with verbs.

I agree! In the german lessons there is a "tips" session. Very helpful indeed.

I agree. Verbix which is generally awesome does have a few European PT biases, imo.

Thanks for the verbix reference, I've never heard about it before!

Essential Portuguese Grammar - by Alexander R. Prista (ISBN10: 0486216500; ISBN13: 9780486216508) used copy for under $3 - this is best little grammar book for review or to learn grammar from the start

Yes, the trial and error approach is kind of limitated to explain this sort of stuff

I fully agree, and I think it's a problem that Duolingo has on every grammar lesson. Each lesson has a list of new vocabulary words, so each lesson the teaches exclusively vocabulary is already set. But the grammar sections NEED some sort of written introduction and description complete with charts.
