More time needed for timed practice

Switching between keyboards makes it virtually impossible to not run out of time, even with 100% accuracy. I think the time given for correct answers should be increased in this course.

Agreed. Or they should somehow make each session only translate in one direction.

Hello Nick! If you have problems with the switching between keyboards, you can use this Google Chrome Duolingo Ukranian Keyboard Extension:

I am aware of this, but how do you switch back and forth with a keyboard shortcut? Some answers are in Ukrainian and others are in English, and having to click the keyboard to switch many times through a session makes time run out.

If you use the extension above, you will not have to switch anything. I use that extension and I've already forgotten about switching.

if you install the extension, when you're doing a Duolingo exercise, you can keep your keyboard in English and when you do a Ukranian question, the key you press will output the mapped value in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Actually I was using a different extension it seems. Now I've added this extension, but the problem is that it's not a phonetic keyboard, which is a bit of a pain. I'd rather not spend time learning a whole new keyboard layout.

Oh well, I guess I'll just always choose non-timed practice.

I don't have keyboard stickers So I use the onscreen keyboard, I subsequently run out of time before completing the sentence.

I've just been using the keyboard extension they provide and when they don't provide it, I leave out the accents and they seem to accept this. I'm not sure how this would work with Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese though.

Chinese is fairly easy. There are built-in Mac/Windows keyboards where you can just type in pinyin and the characters will pop up. It ends up being pretty quick.

That's good to know. I'd like to try the Chinese sometime in the future.
