Bilingualism beats the monoglot trend of the majority.

The ten languages indigenous to the British Isles and still spoken today are English, Scots, British Sign Language, Welsh, Gaelic, Irish, Cornish, Manx, Angloromani and Shelta.

Scotland's capital has just opened a new, dedicated Gaelic school due to increasing demand.

That's good news, but I'd take the fact that "Scottish Gaelic-medium pupils outperform their English-educated counterparts in English tests." with a grain of salt. While I'm sure bilingual education is helping them, correlation isn't causation. A bigger factor may be that they come from more academically motivated families, as attendance at a Gaelic medium school is no doubt optional.

Stlil, I did attend a similar type of program in Canada — French immersion — which has benefitted me.

The Channel Islands are considered part of the British Isles, so you have omitted Jèrriais, Guernésiais and Sercquiais from your list.
