Baltic countries or where did all the LT-LV-EE people go?

More and more languages and language pairs appear on DL, but why haven't we seen any active people from the Baltic countries with the will to start a course on one of the three languages? Surely, Lithuanian and Latvian are like sisters while Estonian is not related to the latter, but wouldn't you like to study those languages? I would gladly participate in building a Lithuanian language course, but.. the more people, the better. You can consider this post as an attempt to gather manpower. If you are from one of the Baltic countries and you have the guts to start popularising your language, write here and we can try arranging our proposal to the DL mod team (or whoever is in charge of giving rights to build up a course). If you're interested in one, two or all languages of the aforementioned countries, give it a bump and don't let the topic die :)

I have seen some people mention they had applied to contribute to both Latvian and Lithuanian courses. I'm VERY interested in studying all three languages. I hope more people show their support so Duolingo will see there is interest. I'm actually about to start learning Estonian without Duolingo. Lithuanian will be next.

There have been volunteers to start these courses but they cannot start without Duolingo's go ahead and they are probably still assessing the feasibility and the logistics.

Could you write more on the logistics? I think, I don't fully understand the meaning behind it

They can only supervise the making of a certain amount of language courses at a time (due to a limited number of employees), and tend to prioritize those that are asked for the most (that aren't already being made).

I'm studying Lithuanian in school now, and I agree- Lithuanian, while it's incredibly difficult, is a beautiful language, and the other baltic languages are fascinating to listen to as well! I would love a way to increase my knowledge of the languages and to have an extra boost for speaking Lithuanian- I need it in my day-to-day life! Good on you! ;)

"Surely, Lithuanian and Latvian are like sisters while Estonian is not related to the latter," Correct. Latvian and Lithuanian are in the Baltic family of Indo-European languages, and Estonian is a Fino-Ugric language.

I personally would be most interested in Estonian, but I would like to see (and would probably take) any. Lets Go!

Yess I would love to see Lithuanian here particularly, hopefully for polish speakers too so i could kill 2 birds with one stone. Polish speakers need some love too & it would also make sense since they're like next door neighbors with a long history with each other if I remember right.

Not as many lithuanians speak polish as you would expect. There are only probably 30000. However, most of us speak russian pretty well.(with the exception of me)

    https://www.duolingo.com/Jillianimal

All the more reason for there to be a polish>lithuanian / lithuanian>polish course, no? (unless the few speakers out there can't or don't care to contribute)

I'm very interested in Lithuanian and I'd gladly see a course in duolingo. I can't contribute though... Maybe a reverse course to learn English would be more desirable first.

Well, many small languages aren't on Duolingo, and all those belong to this category. So, for example, you cannot expect an Estonian course when Finnish, which is quite similar but more spoken, isn't there yet.
