Congrats to the Russian Team !
The Russian course is out of the incubator ! In a couple of minutes / hours, we will be able to learn Russian on Duolingo ! Thank you Duolingo and the Russian team, that's amazing news !
SOON...

Edit : 06:38PM (Switzerland time) I started the course !
The impatience, the impatience............I'm going to eat something and be back in a couple of minutes/hours, guys. Don't start the course without me!!! :)
My hubby and I met in a Russian language group - will be fun to see what I remember 29 years on!
Slight problem - why isn't my placement test using Cyrillic? It's making it very confusing
Sorry, my story continue: I've been studying Russian for about 6 months and I got maybe 60% of the test correct, and it claims I didn't succeed at ANY skills...???
hey everyone - is there anything special I need to do to download Cyrillic font/characters? or do I go straight into the course and follow the directions?
it is best if you were to install a browser app like Google Inpit Tools or a keyboard (the standard one or some phonetic one, like here ). It depends on how interested you are: if you are not that enthusiastic about Russian, then some plugin will be less intrusive.
Fonts are no problem at all.
If you do not use Windows, don't worry: by now, pretty much every OS on any device has support for different languages, especially languages as big as Russian. If you go to "Settings" or "System Preferences", or some kind or "Control Panel", you are very likely to find the option to add more languages under "Keyboards", "Input methods" or something like that. So... it is like you do not even need a tutorial that much. If you do, there is a sticky post in the Ru→EN forum about that ;)
