RUSSIAN IS OUT!!
Russian as of 1:18 EST the Russian course is finally out! The race to the end of the tree by hardcore users I suppose commences now. Happy learning!
I know do you feel. But I am gonna learn Russian when I reach the level 25 in French. Good studies!
The text-to-speech voice sounds very good, in my opinion. Worth the wait.
Slowed down the poor TTS has to pronounce separately words like 'в' which would never appear on their own under any normal circumstances.
there are some sentences that I have to repress it because it doesn't speak them clearly.
edit: seems to be a bit strange on slow mode, but when played on full speed I think it sounds good.
This is awesome. But I hope your post sticks around, I made one about 3 minutes ago and it had 3 upvotes but one second later it got deleted. =(
I was the 659th learner and this is the earliest I have ever been to a newly released language. I woke up and i saw it on the course page which I had bookmarked and pretty much screamed. It sucks though because i have to leave for school very soon so I've only done one lesson.
When you go on the course page it tells you how many learners there are for each language.
The very first time before you start the course you'll see how many users are using it. When you click on it to start you become the +1 of whatever number was there e.g 4356 is taking the course. When you click on it to start learning you'll become number 4357 :). Clear as water?
Because it is a Beta course. Once the course has been improved and different variants of acceptable answers added and the reports have dropped below x amount then it will be released into beta. Not sure how long it takes, a few weeks or months. But so far the Russian course seems pretty good, so I don't expect that many alternative answers that need to be added, so hopefully it will graduate from beta quickly.
it's a pitty its not yet available om the app because I do not own a russian keybord. That makes it even more difficult - especially in the listening exercises. Because now I do not only have to learn the Russian alphabet, but also the layout of a russian keyboard. But I'll try to get used to typing cyrillic letters on an english keybord. (...)
I got around that by using the mobile/phone's browser. It's not ideal but I don't want to wait for the app and will even put up with it looking weird. We're in the same boat. I'm on the phone 99% percent of the time so I can't just log into the computer.
