An amusing sign for visitors to the island of Capri
It appears that whoever translated that sign used a computer translater: capri = goats I tried google translator and came up with the EXACT translation on the sign. What a hoot! Wish I new someone at Google to have fun with this.
BTW, Any visitor to Italy needs to know the word sciopero.
That's why I always hate computer translators and people who use them. I feel that who use translators is not aware about how tricky a language is, and doesn't understand that these tools make a lot of mistakes.
I don't say that nobody should use them, but people should be aware about how to use them and how much they should trust them.
I personally use translators only when I need to read something in a language that is totally incomprehensible to me, and I need to have an idea about what a text is about, but I would never translate something to a language different from my native language.
I don't think this is any reason to hate them. Your points are all perfectly valid, but I feel like you're drawing a really drastic conclusion.
