Russian keyboard

This may be a dumb question, but how do I activate the Russian keyboard? I just started that course and it keeps saying "don't forget to use the Russian keyboard" . Thanks in advance

The same thing happens to me, too. I don't know when they will get an actual Russian Keyboard to use, but you could search for one online. This one is good: http://russian.typeit.org/ I would just use that, until it has the real keyboard! :)

ok Galleta, thanks a lot. I had actually considered that , but before I wanted to make there wasn't any hidden somewhere within duolingo. I'm not exactly a computerwiz, you see, :-D

Same here Mex! I hope DL's keyboard works soon, because I am getting kind of tired of copying and pasting words typed on Russian keyboard. xD

But what is that? Is there really such a thing? I had guessed there was no such thing....

apparently, as our colleague learner Filip pointed out, once you start there is small button which allows you to change the language. the trick seems to be however, to figure out which Cyrillic character matches which key on your keyboard

Oh? I'll have to check with that.

There are two parts.

1) Tell duoLingo to ask & answer in Cyrillic.

There is a little round icon in the upper left that toggles duoLingo questions and answers between Latin transliteration and Cyrillic.

2) Tell your computer to let you type Cyrillic.

More detailed answer is in post response on this thread: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/11452147

Quoting the part I mean:

In any event, you just need to begin any lesson and you can switch it to Cyrillic using the toggle at the top of the page. If you can't find that, here's a link to a screen-shot from Ukrainian, which has the same loathsome "feature" and shows where it is: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/11330461

You can install one. On my android phone I use Swipe, through which I can switch languages by pressing and holding the space bar. If you don't have Russian, you have the choice to add it. On the computer which uses Microsoft Windows 7, I pressed the "Start" button on the bottom left, pressed the "Control Panel", pressed "Region and Language", pressed "Keyboards and Languages", pressed "Change keyboard", pressed "Add", selected "Russian (Russia) Russian" (Continued to choose English as my main language by selecting it as my default language.) and pressed "Apply".

You can switch between languages by pressing Alt+Shift, but you can also assign each language a CTRl+#, just press "Advanced Key Settings", press the language and select the key sequence you want to use for each, then be sure to press Apply.
